Our Faith, Our Joy

Christian joy isn’t about feeling good all the time. It runs deeper than that: it’s the confidence that God loves us, that he remains present in our story, and that evil and death do not have the final word.

This joy is received, and it’s cultivated. It grows when we pray, celebrate the Eucharist, receive forgiveness, share life in community, and put ourselves at the service of others.

It can coexist with fatigue, tears, or unanswered questions. In difficult seasons, the Christian community can carry, alongside us, a hope that can be hard to carry alone.

“The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus.”

Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, no. 1
