{"id":7322,"date":"2022-10-03T13:00:51","date_gmt":"2022-10-03T17:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diocesemontreal.wp.vortexdev.com\/en\/news\/news-2\/popes-october-prayer-intention-church-walks-together\/"},"modified":"2022-10-03T13:00:51","modified_gmt":"2022-10-03T17:00:51","slug":"popes-october-prayer-intention-church-walks-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diocesemontreal.wp.vortexdev.com\/en\/news\/news-2\/popes-october-prayer-intention-church-walks-together\/","title":{"rendered":"Pope&#8217;s October prayer intention: A Church that walks together"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/plFyAD1J4BE\">Video source<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">By Francesca Merlo<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">As is customary at the beginning of every month, Pope Francis has released his prayer intention for the month of October: &#8220;A Church that is open to everyone&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">In The Pope Video, produced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.popesprayer.va\/\">Pope&#8217;s Worldwide Prayer Network<\/a>, the Holy Father begins by asking &#8220;What does it mean &#8216;to synod&#8217;?&#8221;, before answering himself, that it means walking together: syn-od. He explains that in Greek, the word synod means to walk together, and to walk on the same road.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">This, continued the Pope, &#8220;is what God expects of the Church of the third millennium \u2013 that it regain its awareness of being a people on the road and of having to travel together&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">He adds that a Church with this synodal style is one that listens, aware that listening is more than just hearing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">&#8220;It means listening to each other in our diversity and opening doors to those outside the Church. It\u2019s not about gathering opinions, nor holding a parliament. The synod isn\u2019t a survey; it\u2019s about listening to the protagonist, the Holy Spirit. It\u2019s about praying.
