{"id":6985,"date":"2022-05-03T14:32:37","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T18:32:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diocesemontreal.wp.vortexdev.com\/en\/news\/news-2\/popes-may-prayer-intention-faith-filled-young-people\/"},"modified":"2022-05-03T14:32:37","modified_gmt":"2022-05-03T18:32:37","slug":"popes-may-prayer-intention-faith-filled-young-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diocesemontreal.wp.vortexdev.com\/en\/news\/news-2\/popes-may-prayer-intention-faith-filled-young-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Pope\u2019s May prayer intention: \u2018For faith-filled young people\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Devin Watkins<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>As the Church marks the Marian month of May and prepares for the upcoming World Meeting of Families in late June, Pope Francis is urging Catholics to pray for young people and their response to God\u2019s call to holiness.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Pope released his monthly prayer intention on Tuesday in a video prepared by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.popesprayer.va\/\">Pope\u2019s Worldwide Prayer Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>He held up the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a model for Christian family life.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201c<em>When I think of a model with whom young people can identify, our Mother, Mary, always comes to mind: her courage, the way she knew how to listen, and her dedication to service.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Building a better world<\/strong><br \/>\nPope Francis lauded Mary\u2019s courageous and determined \u201cyes\u201d to the Lord, and called on young Catholics to imitate her readiness to improve the world.<\/p>\n\n<p>He said young people must learn to take risks, in order to \u201cbuild something new, a better world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t forget that in order to follow Mary you need to discern and discover what Jesus wants from you, not what you might think you can do,\u201d said the Pope.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Wisdom of the ages<\/strong><br \/>\nGrandparents, he added, can provide an excellent source of wisdom as we seek to discern God\u2019s will for our lives.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cIn those words of grandparents, you will find a wisdom that will take you beyond the issues of the moment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Discernment, faith, service<\/strong><br \/>\nPope Francis wrapped up his video message by inviting everyone to pray for young people as they make their way through life.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that all young people, called to live life to the fullest, may discover in Mary\u2019s life the way to listen, the depth of discernment, the courage of faith, and dedication to service.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Vocation to service<\/strong><br \/>\nA press release accompanying The Pope Video said the prayer intention for May was produced in collaboration with the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life.<\/p>\n\n<p>May\u2019s prayer intention marks the first in a three-part series, with June\u2019s to focus on the family and July\u2019s on the elderly.<\/p>\n\n<p>Fr.
