{"id":6893,"date":"2022-03-22T16:06:10","date_gmt":"2022-03-22T20:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diocesemontreal.wp.vortexdev.com\/en\/news\/news-2\/mass-feast-annunciation-entrust-russia-and-ukraine-mary-papal-request\/"},"modified":"2022-03-22T16:06:10","modified_gmt":"2022-03-22T20:06:10","slug":"mass-feast-annunciation-entrust-russia-and-ukraine-mary-papal-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diocesemontreal.wp.vortexdev.com\/en\/news\/news-2\/mass-feast-annunciation-entrust-russia-and-ukraine-mary-papal-request\/","title":{"rendered":"Mass for Feast of the Annunciation to entrust Russia and Ukraine to Mary: Papal request"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Archbishop Christian L\u00e9pine will mark the feast of the Annunciation of Our Lord <strong>March 25<\/strong> with a <strong>Mass for Peace<\/strong> that will include the <strong>Consecration\/Entrustment of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>This event, to be held at<strong> Mary Queen of the World Cathedral at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong>, responds to Pope Francis\u2019 appeal to Catholic bishops worldwide to join him on that day in consecrating Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Holy Father will do so while presiding at a Celebration of Penance at 5 p.m. (Rome time) in Saint Peter\u2019s Basilica.<\/p>\n\n<p>This act will also renew Pope John Paul II\u2019s consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which took place on March 25, 1984. That consecration was in response to the request of Sr. L\u00facia, the eldest of the three children who witnessed the Fatima apparitions.<\/p>\n\n<p>Following the Mass at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral, the <strong>Blessed Sacrament<\/strong> will be <strong>exposed throughout the night and the following day until the 5 p.m. Saturday Mass.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The Cathedral will remain open for the all-night vigil; all are welcome to spend some time in adoration.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201dThe Feast of the Annunciation celebrates the most amazing, the greatest event in all of history: the Incarnation of the Word of God in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It commemorates the announcement by the Archangel Gabriel of Mary\u2019s divine motherhood. In saying \u201cyes,\u201d Mary agrees to carry and give birth to the \u201cSon of the Most High,\u201d Archbishop L\u00e9pine underlines.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cEach day, the Lord invites us to say \u201cYes,\u201d as well, to his plan of love that He has devised for each and every one of us. Through it, we become instruments of his Peace in our families, in our Church, in society and in the world.
